Overview
This university was Established in 1929, and stands as a prominent national comprehensive university directly overseen by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
Currently, CQU six faculties covering a spectrum of disciplines, including science, social sciences, humanities, engineering, built environment, and information technology. The university offers a diverse array of academic programs, including 96 undergraduate, 115 master’s, 42 doctoral, and 19 professional degree programs.
Additionally, CQU provides 17 master’s and doctoral programs delivered entirely in English, endorsed by the MoE, with four designated as national English-taught flagship courses.
With a student body numbering 47,000, including 25,000 undergraduates, 19,000 graduates, and over 1,800 international students, CQU boasts a faculty and staff totaling 5,300 members. Among them, more than 2,000 hold positions as professors or associate professors.
Notably, Chongqing University serves as the primary institution for Chinese Government Scholarship recipients and ranks among the inaugural group of universities recognized for excellence in international student education in China.
This recognition is underscored by its successful completion of the MoE’s quality accreditation for international student education.
