Overview of Nanjing University China
Nanjing University is one of the top nine universities (C9 League) in China, and also one of the first universities to register and cultivate international students in China. It has hosted more than 20,000 worldwide students from over 120 countries since from 1955, with outstanding international alumni in politics, business, academia and other fields.
Moreover, International Students is an academic organization that conducts teaching and researches in the fields of Chinese language & culture and international Chinese language instruction. It is also a public Chinese-teaching school to all the international students at Nanjing University.
The Institute respect of such academic units as Department of Chinese Language, Department of Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language (TCFL), Department of Public Chinese Teaching, and Research Center for Teacher Improvement & Teaching method. We’ve built a comprehensive system for teaching Chinese language and culture, providing degree programs and training at all levels for both local and international students.
The Institute boasts a group of practiced and dedicated faculty and instructors. Currently there are 34 full-time faculty members, 23 of whom are professors or associate professors, and nearly 30 adjunct faculty and instructors who are experienced in teaching Chinese as foreign language.

Application conditions
1) Non-Chinese citizens, in good health, generally no more than 40 years old;
2) Have a degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a Chinese university (fresh graduates who have not yet obtained a degree certificate when applying must provide a per-graduation certificate issued by their school or college to prove that the applicant has the ability to graduate successfully before admission.

- Admission requirements: IELTS 6.0 and above, TOEFL 85 and above (or TOEFL Essentials 9 and above, Nanjing University’s TOEFL score acceptance code is C288), Duolingo 100 and above.
Application steps
Online registration on Nanjing University portal. You need to upload the following materials when applying.
Required documents
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form Physical Examination Record , (valid for 6 months.
- Undergraduate graduation certificate or degree certificate (fresh graduates can provide Hope Certificate during application).
- Transcripts of all undergraduate courses.
- Two letters of recommendation from teachers.
- HSK certificate (applicants who apply for Chinese-taught courses are required to provide it. Those who have received 12 years of Chinese education in Malaysia, Singapore and other countries can use high school diplomas instead of HSK certificates) or TOEFL (or TOEFL Essentials), IELTS, Duolingo transcripts (applicants in English The instructor needs to provide);
- Personal statement.
- Passport home page.

- Applicants applying to the School of Architecture and Urban Planning must submit a relevant portfolio.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
- Documents that are not in Chinese or English must be accompanied by a Chinese or English translation from the notary or issuing unit.
- Applicants should ensure that the application information and application materials submitted are accurate and authentic. If any falsehoods are found, the applicant’s admission qualification will be canceled.
- After submitting the application, you will receive preliminary review feedback within 3 working days; if you receive a notification about supplementary materials, please submit the relevant materials before the application deadline.
- From April to May, materials that have passed the preliminary review will be transferred in batches to relevant professional departments for review. During the review period, some majors may arrange remote written examinations, interviews, etc. Please pay attention to the site’s letters and email notifications.
